As we embark on this journey across the rivers and lakes of New Brunswick, we acknowledge that these waters and lands have been the traditional territories of Indigenous peoples for thousands of years. We recognize the Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet), and Peskotomuhkati (Passamaquoddy) Nations as the original stewards of this land and water, and we honor their enduring connection to it.
We offer our respect to the Elders, past and present, and to all Indigenous peoples who continue to care for this land. May our time here deepen our understanding of these sacred spaces and our commitment to preserving them for future generations.
This acknowledgment reflects respect for the Indigenous communities connected to the lands and waters of New Brunswick.
